About the Role

Barrick Lumwana Mining is seeking a dedicated Instrumentation Coordinator to join its Mineral Resource Management Team in Kalumbila, North West Province, Zambia.

Reporting to the Hydrogeology Superintendent, the Instrumentation Coordinator will lead a team responsible for maintaining, operating, and supporting the mine’s geotechnical, hydrogeological, and slope monitoring instrumentation systems. The role requires a results-driven individual who acts with integrity, promotes zero harm, and delivers fit-for-purpose solutions that contribute to a sustainable legacy.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain the availability, reliability, and operational readiness of geotechnical, hydrogeological, and slope monitoring instrumentation systems.
• Inspect, service, maintain, and clean radar, prism, VWP, and other monitoring systems as required.
• Ensure all instrumentation equipment is serviced, tested, and calibrated according to manufacturer requirements and site procedures.
• Support the implementation, commissioning, and operation of the VWP telemetry system and borehole automation for remote well management.
• Coordinate with Mine OT and IT teams to ensure seamless communications, system integration, and platform availability.
• Liaise with equipment manufacturers, technology providers, and service contractors to resolve technical issues and maintain support agreements.
• Manage inventory of maintenance tools, test equipment, spare parts, and critical consumables.
• Maintain accurate records of equipment condition, inspections, calibrations, repairs, and defects.
• Prepare and manage the budget for instrumentation maintenance and associated services.
• Develop and review standard operating procedures, maintenance protocols, and inspection checklists.
• Provide technical guidance, coaching, and mentoring to team members, supporting their skills development and succession planning.
• Ensure all work complies with safety, quality, and statutory requirements.
• Promote a proactive maintenance culture focused on system reliability and early fault detection.

Candidate Requirements

• Grade 12 Certificate.
• Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Instrumentation and Control Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of five years’ experience supervising teams in engineering, instrumentation, electrical, automation, or mining environments.
• Proven experience maintaining and troubleshooting field instrumentation, telemetry, or industrial monitoring systems.
• Valid Zambian Driver’s License.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
