I. Job Responsibilities
- Submit tax returns to the Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) on time every month, ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant filings.
- Manage the company's accounts, including accounts receivable, daily expenditure and income records, reconciliations, and related report preparation.
- Be responsible for daily liaison, communication, and document submission between the company and the Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA).
- Apply for or update various relevant documents, licenses, and registration information for the company.
- Manage the company's cash, including daily cash receipts and payments, petty cash management, and bank transaction coordination.
- Complete other related work tasks assigned by the company.
II. Job Requirements
- Degree in finance, accounting, taxation or related majors.
- Familiar with the Zambian tax system and ZRA declaration process, with relevant work experience preferred.
- Prior experience in logistics-related industries is preferred.
- Proficient in using Excel, Word, and common accounting software.
- Detailed work, strong sense of responsibility, honest and reliable, able to handle multiple tasks independently.

Purpose

About the Opportunity
Elara Development Corporation Limited, a Chinese real estate company, is looking for a qualified and experienced Tax Accountant to join the team.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle daily accounting entries in accordance with Zambian accounting standards (ZANS/IFRS), organise source documents, and prepare monthly/quarterly financial statements.
- Manage tax processing, filing and payment throughout the real estate project lifecycle, including VAT, CIT, WHT, PAYE, property tax and transfer tax, while identifying opportunities to optimise tax costs.
- Review the tax compliance of contractors and suppliers, correctly withhold WHT, issue certificates and follow up on VAT refunds.
- Handle development cost accounting and input VAT carry-forwards, and identify differences between IFRS 15 revenue recognition and tax regulations.

- Monitor changes in Zambian tax laws and preferential policies, report relevant developments to the Finance Manager and provide recommendations.
- Manage invoicing, data uploads and routine maintenance of the Smart Invoice System, ensuring electronic invoices meet ZRA requirements and resolving e-invoice anomalies with the tax authority.
- Assist the Finance Manager in liaising with external accounting firms, compile audit documentation and support the annual audit process.
- Represent the company before ZRA on tax registration, changes, filings, payments, audits and other tax matters. Assist with ZDA applications where applicable and handle compliance matters involving PACRA and CSO.
- Reconcile accounts monthly with the Chinese Finance Manager to ensure accuracy and traceability, and assist with cash management and budget execution.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Accounting, Finance or Taxation from a Zambian university.
- ZICA Graduate Membership required; ZICA Licentiate, ACCA or CIMA is an added advantage.
- Minimum 4 years of full-time accounting experience in the construction, manufacturing or mining industry.
- Strong knowledge of Zambian tax laws, including VAT, PAYE, CIT, WHT, NAPSA and related filing procedures.
