ACCOUNTANT
Due to business development needs, Deppon Logistics Limited is currently recruiting one Financial/Accounting and Administrative Specialist to primarily handle tax filing, account management, ZRA coordination, and daily administrative tasks for the company. Applicants with local Zambian financial, tax, or administrative experience are welcome to apply.
I. Job Responsibilities
- Submit tax returns to the Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) on time every month, ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant filings.
- Manage the company's accounts, including accounts receivable, daily expenditure and income records, reconciliations, and related report preparation.
- Be responsible for daily liaison, communication, and document submission between the company and the Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA).
- Apply for or update various relevant documents, licenses, and registration information for the company.
- Manage the company's cash, including daily cash receipts and payments, petty cash management, and bank transaction coordination.
- Complete other related work tasks assigned by the company.
II. Job Requirements
- Degree in finance, accounting, taxation or related majors.
- Familiar with the Zambian tax system and ZRA declaration process, with relevant work experience preferred.
- Prior experience in logistics-related industries is preferred.
- Proficient in using Excel, Word, and common accounting software.
- Detailed work, strong sense of responsibility, honest and reliable, able to handle multiple tasks independently.
III. Salary and Benefits
Salary and benefits shall be implemented in accordance with the local labor laws of Zambia and the company's regulations.

About the Opportunity
Elara Development Corporation Limited, a Chinese real estate company, is looking for a qualified and experienced Tax Accountant to join the team.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle daily accounting entries in accordance with Zambian accounting standards (ZANS/IFRS), organise source documents, and prepare monthly/quarterly financial statements.
- Manage tax processing, filing and payment throughout the real estate project lifecycle, including VAT, CIT, WHT, PAYE, property tax and transfer tax, while identifying opportunities to optimise tax costs.
- Review the tax compliance of contractors and suppliers, correctly withhold WHT, issue certificates and follow up on VAT refunds.
- Handle development cost accounting and input VAT carry-forwards, and identify differences between IFRS 15 revenue recognition and tax regulations.
- Manage monthly/quarterly NAPSA and NHIMA filings and payments.
- Monitor changes in Zambian tax laws and preferential policies, report relevant developments to the Finance Manager and provide recommendations.
- Manage invoicing, data uploads and routine maintenance of the Smart Invoice System, ensuring electronic invoices meet ZRA requirements and resolving e-invoice anomalies with the tax authority.
- Assist the Finance Manager in liaising with external accounting firms, compile audit documentation and support the annual audit process.
- Represent the company before ZRA on tax registration, changes, filings, payments, audits and other tax matters. Assist with ZDA applications where applicable and handle compliance matters involving PACRA and CSO.
- Reconcile accounts monthly with the Chinese Finance Manager to ensure accuracy and traceability, and assist with cash management and budget execution.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Accounting, Finance or Taxation from a Zambian university.
- ZICA Graduate Membership required; ZICA Licentiate, ACCA or CIMA is an added advantage.
- Minimum 4 years of full-time accounting experience in the construction, manufacturing or mining industry.
- Strong knowledge of Zambian tax laws, including VAT, PAYE, CIT, WHT, NAPSA and related filing procedures.
- Proficiency in Smart Invoice, accounting software and Microsoft Excel, including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUP.
- Experience dealing with ZRA, banks, external accounting firms and other authorities is an advantage.
- Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and high awareness of tax compliance and tax risks.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively under pressure.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a Chinese management team.
- Honest, trustworthy and professional.
- Must be based in Lusaka or willing to relocate and start immediately.
