Job Vacancy – Credit Officer
DS Solar Zambia Limited is inviting applications from suitably qualified, professional and results-oriented candidates for the position of Credit Officer. The successful candidate will support the administration and management of the company’s Hire Purchase and credit portfolio, including customer assessment, documentation, approvals, account monitoring and recovery follow-up.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive, review and process customer Hire Purchase and credit applications.
- Verify customer identification, employment/business information, income and supporting documentation.
- Conduct affordability assessments and credit checks in accordance with company procedures.
- Prepare credit assessment recommendations for management approval.
- Ensure approved deposits, processing fees and other required payments are properly verified before product release.
- Prepare and maintain customer credit files, Hire Purchase agreements and repayment schedules.
- Maintain an accurate Hire Purchase/credit register and update customer account information.
- Monitor repayment schedules and identify overdue accounts promptly.
- Contact customers regarding upcoming and overdue payments professionally.
- Prepare daily, weekly and monthly reports on applications, approvals, collections, arrears and outstanding balances.
- Reconcile customer credit accounts with Accounts, Sales and other relevant departments.
- Escalate suspected fraud, altered documentation, payment discrepancies and high-risk applications.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of customer financial and personal information.
- Support lawful debt-recovery and arrears-management procedures.
- Ensure customers receive clear information on applicable fees, repayment obligations and Hire Purchase terms.
- Perform other credit-related duties assigned by management.
Qualifications & Key Requirements
Applicants should possess a Diploma in Business Administration, Banking & Finance, Accounting, Economics, Credit Management or a related field, with relevant experience in a credit, loans, microfinance, banking, Hire Purchase or similar position.
Candidates should have good understanding of credit assessment, affordability analysis, loan documentation, repayment monitoring and arrears management. Strong numerical and analytical ability, proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications, good written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, confidentiality, integrity and the ability to work with minimal supervision are essential.
Experience working with consumer lending, Hire Purchase, microfinance, banking or credit-reference processes will be an added advantage.

- Onboard and induct new team members, make sure they are ready before they face a client and supported while they find their feet.
- Run a clean and disciplined operation, maintain high standards in cash handling, compliance, credit processes, and branch administration.
- Resolve escalated client complaints with speed and dignity, own the outcome and see problems through to resolution.
- Report on branch performance with honesty and clarity, flag problems early.
- Identify what is not working and fix it, bring solutions and take action quickly.

Requirements
- Degree in Banking, Finance, Business Administration, Marketing, or a related commercial field is advantageous.
- 3–5 years’ experience in a customer-facing environment.
- At least 1 year of experience leading or supervising a team.
- Proven track record of hitting targets consistently.
- Good understanding of credit, lending processes, and basic financial concepts.
- Strong communicator, clear, direct, respectful, and calm when things get busy.
- Organised and disciplined, you follow the process properly, keep things accurate, and hold your team to the same standard.
- Fluent in English.
- Willing to work shifts, weekends, or rotational standbys where required.
- Hungry to grow, you question what is not working, take ownership, and bring strong energy and standards to your team every day.
