JOB PURPOSE
To process reinsurance requests and support the Reinsurance Manager in delivering an efficient and effective reinsurance programme for the Company.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Secures reinsurance quotations and support from reinsurers within authorised financial limits.
- Maintains records of correspondence on reinsured business from all participating companies and files documents in the relevant account folders for reference.
- Prepares credit notes and drafts requests to Accounts for settlement of reinsurance premiums.
- Collects claim documentation from the Claims Department and forwards it to reinsurers.
- Prepares debit notes and statements and sends them to reinsurers to facilitate claim recoveries.
- Compiles data for the preparation of reports and statements as required by the supervisor.
- Prepares risk profiles for submission to the supervisor to determine treaty capacity levels.
- Performs any other official duties as assigned by superiors.
QUALIFICATIONS / CERTIFICATIONS
- Grade 12 School Certificate.
- Diploma in Insurance.
- Member of the Chartered Institute of Insurance.
KEY TECHNICAL SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
- Sound numerical and computational ability to process reinsurance premiums, claim costs and commissions, and to verify statistics.
- Strong organisational skills to process documentation accurately and ensure timely delivery of reinsurance services.
- Non-supervisory role with no direct reports.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Office-based within ZSIC General Insurance Limited, with frequent interaction with clients and other departments.

JOB PURPOSE
To provide strategic leadership and technical oversight in underwriting and insurance product development by ensuring sound risk selection, pricing discipline, and innovative product design that supports profitability, market competitiveness, regulatory compliance, and sustainable growth of ZSIC General Insurance Limited in line with the Strategic Business Plan.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Underwriting Strategy and Governance
- Develops, implements and reviews underwriting strategies, policies and frameworks across all classes of general insurance business.
- Ensures consistent application of underwriting standards, authority limits and pricing guidelines across Head Office and branches.
- Provides technical leadership and oversight to underwriting teams to ensure quality, consistency and risk discipline.
- Approves complex, high-value or non-standard risks within delegated authority levels.
2. Product Development and Innovation
- Leads the design, development and review of insurance products to meet market demand, customer needs and regulatory requirements.
- Conducts market research, customer analysis and competitor benchmarking to inform product innovation and enhancement.
- Works with actuarial, reinsurance, claims and business development teams to ensure products are commercially viable and technically sound.
- Oversees product pricing, policy wording development and product approval processes.
3. Portfolio Performance Management
- Monitors underwriting portfolio performance, including premium growth, loss ratios, claims trends and profitability.
- Identifies adverse trends and recommends corrective actions to improve underwriting outcomes and risk selection.
- Ensures effective accumulation control, exposure management and portfolio diversification.
- Produces underwriting and product performance reports for management and governance committees.
4. Reinsurance and Capacity Management
- Works closely with the Reinsurance Unit to align underwriting strategy with reinsurance structures and capacity.
- Provides technical input into reinsurance programme design, treaty negotiations and facultative placements.
- Ensures underwriting decisions are consistent with reinsurance arrangements and retention limits.
5. Business Development and Stakeholder Engagement
- Provides technical underwriting and product support to Business Development, Corporate, SME, Retail and Branch teams.
- Participates in key client, broker and stakeholder engagements to support business growth and retention.
- Advises senior management on underwriting capacity, product positioning and market opportunities.
6. Compliance, Risk Management and Governance
- Ensures underwriting and product development activities comply with insurance regulations, corporate governance requirements and internal policies.
- Oversees the maintenance and periodic review of underwriting manuals, guidelines and authority frameworks.
- Supports internal and external audits, regulatory inspections and compliance reviews.
- Ensures effective risk management controls are embedded in underwriting and product processes.
QUALIFICATIONS / CERTIFICATIONS
- Grade 12 Certificate.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Insurance, Actuarial Science, Business Administration, Finance, Risk Management or related field.
- ZAQA Certified Qualifications.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience.

- In-depth knowledge of general insurance underwriting principles and product structures.

JOB PURPOSE

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Executive Support & Coordination
- Manages the MD’s diary, schedules, travel arrangements and priority commitments.

- Prepares consolidated status reports highlighting progress, risks and matters for escalation.
3. Stakeholder Engagement Reporting

- Maintains a stakeholder engagement tracker and follows up agreed commitments to closure.
- Consolidates departmental input into periodic management reports.
4. Executive Meeting Secretariat
- Schedules Executive Management meetings and coordinates agendas, papers and notices.
- Attends meetings and records accurate, timely minutes with clear actions and deadlines.
- Maintains an Executive Management action matrix and follows up outstanding actions.
5. Office Administration & Records
- Coordinates information flow between the MD’s Office, departments and external stakeholders.
- Maintains secure, organised filing systems for confidential and executive documents.
- Drafts, proofreads and reviews official correspondence and executive documents.
6. Communication, Protocol & Governance
- Screens and coordinates incoming communications addressed to the MD with discretion.
- Serves as key point of contact for visitors, partners and senior officials; coordinates protocol.

QUALIFICATIONS / CERTIFICATIONS
- Grade 12 School Certificate.
- Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Secretarial Studies, Office Management or related field.
- At least 5 years’ relevant experience in executive assistance, executive office administration or corporate secretariat.
- Experience supporting a senior executive, preferably in a corporate, financial services or insurance environment.

- Excellent organisational, planning, coordination and time-management skills.

POSITION: MANAGER – CLAIMS

JOB PURPOSE
To provide strategic, technical, and operational leadership of the Claims function by ensuring timely, fair, and cost-effective settlement of claims in accordance with ZSIC General Insurance policies and regulatory requirements, while safeguarding the Company against fraud, leakage, and reputational risk and enhancing customer confidence and satisfaction.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Claims Strategy & Governance
- Develop and review claims strategies, policies, procedures and service standards
- Ensure the Claims function operates within governance frameworks, delegated authorities and regulatory requirements
- Establish and monitor claims turnaround times (TATs), SLAs and performance indicators
2. Claims Operations
- Oversee the end-to-end claims lifecycle across all classes of business
- Review and approve claims within delegated authority; escalate high-value or complex claims
- Ensure efficient registration, assessment, approval and settlement at Head Office and branch level
- Provide claims experience analysis to actuarial and product development functions
3. Litigation & Dispute Resolution
- Prepare pleadings, witness statements and case files for matters involving the Corporation
- Represent the Corporation in subordinate courts and liaise with external counsel
- Assist in negotiations, mediations and arbitrations to resolve disputes efficiently
- Maintain a litigation database and prepare periodic case status reports
4. Fraud Management & Risk Control
- Develop fraud prevention, detection and investigation mechanisms
- Review suspicious and complex claims and recommend corrective or disciplinary action
- Ensure recovery, subrogation and salvage processes minimise claims leakage
5. Financial Control & Stakeholders
- Manage claims expenditure and reserving adequacy; monitors loss ratios and settlement patterns
- Work with Finance and Underwriting on reserving and financial reporting
- Manage relationships with loss adjusters, assessors, garages, medical providers and legal practitioners
6. Customer Experience & Compliance
- Ensure fair, transparent, customer-focused claims service; resolves escalated complaints
- Ensure compliance with insurance regulations and claims handling standards
- Prepare claims reports for management, regulators, auditors and the Board
QUALIFICATIONS / CERTIFICATIONS
- Grade 12 School Certificate
