About the Organisation

The Christian Health Association of Lesotho (CHAL) is a network of church-owned health facilities comprising 8 hospitals, 71 health centres and 4 nursing training institutions across Lesotho. CHAL is constitutionally mandated to facilitate the participation of Christian churches in ensuring that the right to health for all is upheld to the highest quality. CHAL collaborates with the Government of Lesotho, development partners and other stakeholders to provide quality health services and strengthen the health system.

CHAL has entered into an agreement with EGPAF Lesotho to implement a new project under the Bureau of Global Health Security and Diplomacy (GHSD) through the United States Department of State. The project aims to strengthen health service delivery, optimise programme performance, build health facility capacity and improve health outcomes across CHAL-supported facilities through a data-driven approach.

CHAL invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the following positions.

1. Project Coordinator

The GHSD Project Coordinator will provide overall coordination, implementation, monitoring and reporting of the GHSD Project within CHAL. The position will provide strategic and operational leadership to ensure effective implementation of project activities in accordance with approved project plans, donor requirements, CHAL policies, Government of Lesotho requirements and applicable programme guidelines.

The role will support achievement of agreed project milestones, provide evidence-based support for TB/HIV, SRHMNCAH-N and NCD+MH C&T, provide technical assistance, training and mentoring across CHAL facilities, monitor targets and collaborate with GHSD consortium partners to optimise programme performance.

Qualifications and Experience

• Master’s Degree in Public Health, Health Services Management, Project Management, Business Administration, Social Sciences, Development Studies, Nursing or a related field.
• At least 5–7 years' experience managing or coordinating health programmes, preferably donor-funded programmes.
• Demonstrated experience in project planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting.
• Experience supervising multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience working with health facilities.
• Experience in budget monitoring and financial management.
• Experience working with donor-funded programmes and/or international development partners.
• Good understanding of health systems and programme implementation in Lesotho.
• Knowledge of basic project management tools is an added advantage.

2. Programme Optimisation Officer

The Programme Optimisation Officer will support the effective implementation, optimisation and continuous improvement of the GHSD Project across CHAL-supported health facilities. The role will identify programme performance gaps, analyse programme data, coordinate targeted interventions and support health facilities and project teams to achieve agreed programme targets and milestones.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health, Health Services Management, Nursing, Monitoring and Evaluation, Statistics, Epidemiology, Development Studies, Project Management, Social Sciences or a related field.
• A Master’s Degree in Public Health, Health Management, Monitoring and Evaluation, Epidemiology, Project Management or a related discipline is an added advantage.
• Training or certification in Monitoring and Evaluation, Data Analytics, Quality Improvement or Project Management is an added advantage.
• At least 3–5 years' relevant experience in programme implementation, monitoring and evaluation, health programme optimisation or performance improvement.
• Experience working in a donor-funded health programme is highly desirable.
• Experience working with health facilities and frontline health workers.
• Demonstrated experience analysing programme data and developing performance improvement interventions.
• Experience in HIV/AIDS programmes or other public health programmes is an advantage.
• Experience working with Government health structures, NGOs or faith-based health organisations is an advantage.
• Knowledge of donor-funded programme reporting and compliance requirements is desirable.

3. Registered Nurse Midwife ×13

The Registered Nurse Midwife will provide quality, comprehensive and evidence-based maternal, newborn and reproductive health services at designated CHAL health facilities in accordance with national standards, CHAL policies and GHSD project requirements.

The position will contribute to GHSD project objectives through antenatal, intrapartum, postnatal and newborn care, integration of HIV and other essential health services, early identification and management of complications, accurate documentation and reporting, health education, mentorship, quality improvement and data-driven interventions.

Qualifications and Experience

• Diploma or Degree in Nursing and Midwifery from a recognised institution.
• Valid registration with Lesotho Nursing Council.
• Additional training in maternal and newborn health, HIV/AIDS, PMTCT and other relevant areas is an advantage.
• At least 2–3 years' relevant professional experience as a Registered Nurse Midwife.
• Experience providing antenatal, intrapartum, postnatal and newborn care.
• Experience in HIV testing, PMTCT and/or integrated HIV services is an advantage.
• Experience working in a donor-funded health programme is an added advantage.
• Experience with routine health information systems, registers and programme reporting is desirable.

4. Data Clerk ×5

The Data Clerk will support the accurate, timely and complete collection, capturing, verification, management and reporting of programme data at CHAL-supported health facilities under the GHSD Project. The role will ensure programme data is properly documented, entered into relevant systems, routinely checked for quality and made available for monitoring, reporting and programme optimisation.

Qualifications and Experience

• Certificate or Diploma in Data Management, Information Technology, Statistics, Health Information Management, Records Management, Monitoring and Evaluation or a related field from a recognised institution.
• At least 1–2 years' relevant experience in data capturing, health information management, records management or programme data.
• Experience with donor-funded health programmes, HIV programmes or other public health projects is an advantage.
• Basic computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Experience using electronic databases or health information systems is an advantage.
• Knowledge of data collection, verification and reporting processes.
