EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY
The Zambia Agency for Persons with Disabilities is a Quasi-Government Agency, established under Act No. 6 of 2012. The Agency is mandated to plan, promote and coordinate services for persons with disabilities.
In its quest to serve persons with disabilities better, the Agency is inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced individuals to fill the following position:
Position Details

Main Accountabilities / Responsibilities
- Plan, promote and coordinate services for persons with disabilities in the Province.
- Register persons with disabilities in the Province.
- Review applications from Organizations of and for Persons with Disabilities wishing to be registered by the Agency before onward submission to head office.
- Conduct inquiries into any matter relating to the welfare, employment, habilitation and rehabilitation of persons with disabilities.
- Monitor the provision of services to persons with disabilities and the implementation of the Disability Act and any policies or national strategies.
- Make representations on behalf of any person with disability before any State organ or institution and facilitate for the provision of legal assistance if the matter relates to the rights of, or the interaction of, persons with disabilities.
- Promote public awareness in all aspects of disability.
- Coordinate with government institutions with regards to disability mainstreaming.
- Facilitate the submission of persons with disabilities CVs to the Rehabilitation and Research department for inclusion on the data base.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual reports.
- Conduct inspection of institutions and ensure that adequate arrangements for the general welfare, education, training, rehabilitation, health, or employment are offered to persons with disabilities, and that records are kept.
- Ensure service providers put in place necessary facilities that make such services available and accessible to persons with disabilities in the prescribed manner.
- Collect statistical data from relevant institutions relating to disability issues for purposes of planning, promotion, administration, monitoring and evaluation of services for persons with disabilities as may be advised.
- Facilitate the preparation and coordination of the commemoration of disability calendar days.
- Supervision of staff at provincial and district levels.
- Maintain the provincial establishment register of all employees.
- Manage the inventory of all Agency assets in the province and updated asset register regularly.
- Facilitate the procurement of title deeds for all the Agency's properties.
- Maintain and file all books of accounts.
- Carry out any other duties that may be assigned to you by superiors from time to time.
Qualifications / Experience
- Grade 12 or GCE certificate (ZAQA Certified).
- Degree in Social Work or any other related Social Sciences (ZAQA Certified).
- 2 years' work experience.
- Experience in counselling and working with persons with disability will be an added advantage.
Other Attributes
- Excellent knowledge and sensitivity to issues affecting persons with disabilities.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong written skills in project proposal.
