EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY

The Zambia Agency for Persons with Disabilities is a Quasi-Government Agency, established under the Persons with Disabilities Act No. 33 of 1996 and continued with the Persons with Disabilities Act No. 06 of 2012. The Agency is mandated to plan, promote and coordinate services to persons with disabilities.

In its quest to serve persons with disabilities better, the Agency is inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced individuals to fill the following position:

Main Purpose of the Job

To facilitate the provision of services to persons with disabilities in areas such as rehabilitation, resettlement, employment, training, and empowerment, while harnessing their potential for inclusion into mainstream society.

Position Details

  • Position Title: Assistant Provincial Coordinator (1)
  • Department: Rehabilitation und Research

  • Reports To: Provincial Coordinator

Main Accountabilities / Responsibilities

  1. Facilitate the registration of persons with disabilities and maintain the data base for the province.
  2. Identify buildings inaccessible by persons with disabilities and inform the Provincial Coordinator for further action.
  3. Assist the Provincial Coordinator in conducting needs assessments of persons with disabilities and make recommendations/referrals.
  4. Prepare monthly, quarterly, bi-annual and annual reports for onward submission to the Provincial Coordinator.
  5. Maintain employee files as well as the establishment of a register of all employees in the province.
  6. Manage the inventory of all Agency assets in the district and province by maintaining an updated asset register.
  7. Facilitate the coordination of Organizations of or for Persons with Disabilities (OPDs).
  8. Ensure that registered OPDs are audited before onward uploading on the ZAPD website.
  9. Carry out programmes aimed at informing/raising awareness to the general public on disability rights.
  10. Collect statistical data from relevant institutions relating to disability issues for purposes of planning, promotion, administration, monitoring and evaluation of services for persons with disabilities as may be advised by the Provincial Coordinator.
  11. Monitor the provision of services to persons with disabilities and the implementation of the Act and any policies or national strategies.
  12. Facilitate the submission of persons with disabilities CVs to the Provincial Coordinator for onward submission to Head office.
  13. Carry out any other duties that may be assigned to you by superiors from time to time.

Qualifications / Experience

  1. Grade 12 or GCE certificate (ZAQA Certified).
  2. Diploma in Social Work or any other related Social Sciences (ZAQA Certified).
  3. 1 year work experience.
  4. Must be Zambian with a green National Registration Card.
  5. Experience in counselling will be an added advantage.

Other Attributes

  1. Excellent knowledge and sensitivity to issues affecting persons with disabilities.
  2. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  3. Strong written skills in project proposal development.
