STORES OFFICER - 1 POSITION

Institution: Nkumbi International College

Purpose of the Job

Responsible for receiving, inspecting, recording, storing, and issuing stores and materials in accordance with institutional and public procurement and stores management regulations. Ensures accurate stock records to support efficient operations and compliance with TEVET and government financial requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive, inspect, record, and issue stores and materials
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date stock records
  • Monitor stock levels and initiate timely requisitions
  • Ensure proper storage, safety, and security of stores
  • Prepare stock reports and support audit and reconciliations
  • Participate in stock taking, asset verification, and audits
  • Ensure compliance with TEVET policies and regulations
  • Liaise with procurement office and user departments

Qualifications & Other Requirements

  • Grade 12 School Certificate with at least five (5) credits, including Mathematics and English Language
  • Diploma in Stores Management, Purchasing and Supply, or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years relevant experience
  • Knowledge of stores management, inventory control, and procurement procedures
  • Computer literacy and familiarity with public procurement systems
  • Fully paid-up member of ZIPS with a valid practicing license
  • Qualifications must be verified by ZAQA

JOB 2

MACHINIST/TURNER - 1 POSITION

Institution: Nkumbi International College

Purpose of the Job

Responsible for making, repairing, and fitting mechanical components in line with engineering drawings and maintenance of workshop equipment. Also involves operating CNC lathe machine, vertical milling machine, shaping machine and other workshop equipment for training and production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications
  • Operate machines such as lathes, vertical milling machines, and grinders
  • Perform turning, milling, drilling, and grinding operations
  • Design, set up, and operate CNC machining systems
  • Identify machine faults and perform routine maintenance
  • Monitor machine operation and ensure optimal performance

Qualifications & Other Requirements

  • Grade 12 School Certificate with five (5) credits
  • Advanced Certificate in Mechanical Engineering
  • Accreditation certificate with TEVETA
  • Minimum 3 years experience as a Machinist
  • Member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ) with a valid practicing license
  • Qualifications must be verified by ZAQA

Skills

  • Knowledge of technical drawings and documentation
  • Knowledge of safety standards
  • Knowledge of CNC machining

JOB 3

LABORATORY ASSISTANT - 1 POSITION

Institution: Nkumbi International College

Purpose of the Job

Support the safe and effective use of science laboratories by preparing equipment, reagents, and apparatus, supporting practical sessions, and maintaining stock and records.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare reagents, apparatus, and equipment for practicals
  • Ensure labs, apparatus, and glassware are clean and functional
  • Maintain proper storage of chemicals and ensure safety
  • Maintain accurate inventories and track laboratory supplies
  • Support teaching staff during practical lessons
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and hygienic laboratory environment

Qualifications & Other Requirements

  • Grade 12 School Certificate with at least five (5) credits, including Mathematics and English Language
  • Certificate/diploma in laboratory science
  • Certificate in teaching methodology
  • Minimum 1 year in a similar role
  • Computer literacy and familiarity with laboratory and procurement systems
  • Fully paid-up member of ZIPS with a valid practicing license
  • Qualifications must be verified by ZAQA

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proficiency in English
  • Comfortable working with students and staff

Safety & Compliance

  • Support adherence to laboratory safety procedures
  • Handle hazardous substances and chemicals responsibly
