ABOUT THE ORGANISATION
Mafisa Community Transformation Trust Limited is a Zambian non-profit organisation established in 2018. Currently focused on Mwandi and surrounding districts, Mafisa is strengthening climate-smart, productive pastoralist livelihoods in Zambia’s poorest and most climate-impacted regions.
The Mafisa model helps local traditional cattle-raising communities improve herd health, adopt regenerative rangeland management and access fair market opportunities so they can achieve larger and more sustainable incomes.
From 2023, Mafisa has been expanding operations through carbon financing. This is an innovative programme and represents a significant expansion in programming in the livestock sector.

Position: Human Resources Officer
Reporting To: Human Resources Manager
Duty Station: Mwandi District, Western Province
ABOUT THE ROLE
Mafisa is seeking a Human Resources Officer to provide effective, timely and confidential HR support to field employees in Mwandi, Sesheke, Kazungula, Mulobezi, Sioma, Shangombo and Nalolo.
The HRO will serve as the primary HR focal point for field-based employees, supporting the implementation of HR policies, procedures and processes at field level.
The role will ensure that employee matters are appropriately documented, addressed and escalated to the HR Manager in Lusaka where necessary.
The successful candidate must demonstrate a high level of confidentiality, professionalism and sound judgement, with the ability to work independently in a field environment while maintaining close communication and coordination with the HR Manager in Lusaka.
KEY REQUIREMENTS
- Diploma in Human Resource Management, Industrial Relations, Business Administration or a related field.
- 2–3 years' relevant HR/administrative experience, preferably in an NGO, development or field-based environment.
- Practical experience in HR administration, employee relations, recruitment and records management.
- Strong communication, organisational and confidentiality skills.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel.
- ZIHRM membership or eligibility for membership is an added advantage.
