Grant money and public funds only keep coming to institutions that can account properly for financial resources. This role sits at the centre of transactions, reconciliations, statutory remittances and audit-ready financial records supporting research operations across multiple sites.

ENTRY QUALIFICATION

  • ZICA Licentiate, CA Zambia Application Level, or Advanced Diploma in Accountancy or a recognised equivalent.
  • Full Grade 12 School Certificate or its equivalent.
  • Paid-up membership of the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA) is mandatory and will be verified before appointment.
  • Three (3) years minimum post-qualification accounting experience.

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON

  • Process financial transactions including payments, receipts and journal entries accurately and on time in the accounting system.
  • Prepare payment vouchers, cheques and electronic funds transfers strictly in line with approved procedures.
  • Manage revenue and receivables through receipting, banking, recording and active follow-up of outstanding debtors.
  • Reconcile bank, control and ledger accounts on a disciplined monthly cycle.
  • Meet statutory obligations by preparing and remitting PAYE, NAPSA and NHIMA on time.
  • Control petty cash and imprest and support budget monitoring through expenditure returns and variance information.
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules, documents and financial explanations required by auditors.

WHAT YOU NEED

  • ZICA Licentiate, CA Zambia Application Level, Advanced Diploma in Accountancy or a recognised equivalent.
  • Full Grade 12 School Certificate or equivalent.
  • Paid-up ZICA membership – mandatory.
  • Three (3) years of relevant post-qualification accounting experience.
  • Strong integrity and discretion when handling confidential financial information.
  • Sound judgement and ability to escalate financial issues requiring management attention.

ADDED ADVANTAGE

  • Experience in a public, statutory or grant-funded institution.
  • Experience with donor and project reporting.
  • Strong working knowledge of a computerised accounting package and advanced spreadsheet skills.
  • Familiarity with IPSAS and Zambian public financial management requirements.
