Overall Responsibility

As a truck driver with Chisamba Ranching and Cropping Limited, you will be responsible for operating heavy commercial vehicles on a variety of routes, including short local trips and longer regional or cross-border journeys. Your role is critical in ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of goods while adhering strictly to regulatory standards and company policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Driving Operations: Safely operate heavy trucks over assigned routes, managing both local deliveries and long-distance trips across regional borders.
  • Vehicle Safety Inspections: Perform comprehensive pre-trip and post-trip checks on brakes, tires, lights, and fluid levels to ensure vehicle roadworthiness.
  • Cargo Security: Assist or oversee loading and unloading of cargo using ropes, blocks, or chains to prevent shifting during transit and maintain load integrity.
  • Route Planning: Utilize GPS navigation and maps to select efficient, cost-effective routes while avoiding restricted or hazardous zones.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Maintain accurate driving logbooks documenting hours of service (HOS), rest periods, and fuel consumption in accordance with legal requirements.
  • Maintenance Reporting: Conduct basic on-road maintenance such as refueling and cleaning, and promptly report any mechanical issues to the logistics department.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Possession of a valid CE or C class driving licence.
  • A minimum of two years’ professional experience as a truck driver.
  • Strong knowledge of vehicle safety protocols and maintenance procedures.
  • Ability to plan routes effectively using GPS and maps.
  • Commitment to adhering to transport regulations and company policies.
