BOILER OPERATOR
📍 LUSAKA, ZAMBIA • FULL-TIME
JOB PURPOSE
The Boiler Operator is responsible for the safe, efficient, and continuous operation, monitoring, and maintenance of boiler systems and associated equipment to ensure an uninterrupted supply of steam, hot water, or heat required for production and operational activities.
The role ensures compliance with safety, environmental, and statutory regulations while maintaining optimal boiler performance, minimizing downtime, and supporting overall plant productivity.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operate and monitor the boiler for continuous steam supply.
- Check pressure, temperature, water level, and fuel system regularly.
- Maintain boiler log sheets and operating records.
- Ensure proper water treatment and chemical dosing.
- Perform routine inspection of the boiler and auxiliaries.
- Coordinate with the maintenance team for breakdowns and preventive maintenance.
- Ensure safe operation as per SOPs and safety guidelines.
- Monitor steam distribution and avoid leakages.
- Handle boiler start-up and shutdown procedures.
- Maintain housekeeping in the boiler area.
- Report abnormalities immediately to the supervisor.
- Support energy-saving initiatives and fuel consumption monitoring.
QUALIFICATIONS AND KEY REQUIREMENTS
- Boiler Operator competency certificate / licence as per local regulations.
- Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in industrial boiler operation.
- Knowledge of steam systems, water treatment, and safety practices.
- Familiarity with fuel systems including diesel, gas and coal.
