Stoneridge Farms Ltd is an established commercial livestock enterprise that specializes in Stud Breeding (Kafue VBK Boergoat Stud) of Pure Breed Boergoats, Kalahari Reds, Dorper Sheep, Meatmaster Sheep, Equine and Exotic birds, and is seeking an experienced and results-oriented Farm Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of a mixed livestock farm.
Stoneridge Farms Ltd also operates Cattle, Goats and Sheep Feedlots that feed into the main Supermarkets and Butcheries in Zambia.
We are also robustly building a White Brahman Stud herd and Simentaler Brahman Cross Breeding Program as well as developing a home based Farm Horse Breeding Program.
Over the years Stoneridge Farms Ltd has established itself as the Home of the best small stock genetics in Zambia and has actively been involved in the import and export of goats, Ostriches, Exotic birds, horses and sheep genetics within the SADC and East African Market.
FARM MANAGER
Key Responsibilities
- Managing people (Farm Workers, seasonal and full time)
- Manage goat, sheep, cattle, horse and poultry production.
- Plan and supervise breeding, animal health and nutrition programmes, including pasture plantations.
- Lead and motivate farm staff while maintaining high performance standards in the herd and manage the feedlot to desired results.
- Implement biosecurity, animal welfare and farm safety procedures.
- Monitor production records, stock levels and farm budgets.
- Coordinate pasture management, feed production and farm periodic maintenance.
- Prepare operational reports and ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
Minimum Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Animal Science, Agriculture or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years' farm environment experience managing a commercial or stud livestock farm.
- Strong knowledge of breeding, nutrition, disease control and pasture management.
- Proven leadership, planning and problem-solving skills.
- Computer literacy, good knowledge of interaction on socials and record-keeping ability.
- Valid driver's licence, manual, 4*4 and small livestock trailer driving skills. Women are encouraged to apply.
- Ability to drive on roads within the region especially Namibia, Botswana, Malawi, Tanzania, Zimbabwe and South Africa when called upon from time to time.
