Job Purpose
The Assistant Logistics Coordinator supports the planning, coordination, and monitoring of logistics activities to ensure the efficient movement, storage, and distribution of goods. The role assists in maintaining accurate records, coordinating deliveries, tracking shipments and ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Logistics Coordination
Assist in planning and coordinating transportation and delivery schedules.
Monitor and track incoming and outgoing shipments.
Liaise with transport providers, suppliers, and customers regarding delivery status.
Support the preparation and processing of shipping documentation.
Coordinate with warehouse staff to ensure timely dispatch and receipt of goods.
Inventory Management
Assist in maintaining accurate inventory records.
Monitor stock levels and report shortages or discrepancies.
Support stock counts and inventory audits.
Ensure proper documentation of stock movements.
Administrative Support
Maintain logistics databases and filing systems.
Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly logistics reports.
Process delivery notes, invoices, purchase orders, and waybills.
Ensure all logistics records are accurate and up to date.
Handle logistics-related correspondence and inquiries.
Compliance and Quality Assurance
Ensure compliance with transportation regulations and company policies.
Assist in implementing health, safety, and environmental standards.
Support investigations of delivery delays, damages, or losses.
Maintain confidentiality and integrity of logistics information.
Customer Service
Respond to customer inquiries regarding shipments and deliveries.
Resolve routine logistics issues promptly and professionally.
Maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications and Experience
Grade 12 Certificate
Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
3 years of experience in logistics
Knowledge and Skills
Understanding of logistics and supply chain processes.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Good analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping.
