MULTIPLE VACANCIES

The Judiciary is an independent arm of Government established under part VIII of the Constitution (Amendment) Act No. 2 of 2016. Its mission is "To administer justice to all in an independent, impartial, competent and timely manner".

In order to improve service delivery, the Judiciary in Southern Province intends to fill the vacant positions indicated below. Applications are invited from suitable candidates.

1. TYPIST – JSS 05 × 1

Annual Basic Salary: K76,541.41

Station: Kalomo Subordinate Court, Kalomo District

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Undertake timely and accurately typing of correspondence and documents in order to ensure production of high-quality standard documents.
  • Undertake accurately note taking of proceedings during meetings in order to facilitate preparation of minutes and reports.
  • Undertake daily receiving of correspondence and documents from both internal and external sources in order to ensure appropriate attention and action.
  • Undertake timely and politely receiving and attending to visitors in order to enhance the image of the office.
  • Undertake effectively the acquisition and serving of beverages and refreshments to officers and visitors in order to extend hospitality.
  • Undertake timely the receiving and placement of telephone calls in order to facilitate communication.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • Full Grade 12 Certificate with 5 O Levels credit or better including English
  • Certificate in Secretarial Studies or equivalent
  • Typewriting speed of 45/55 wpm

2. CLERICAL OFFICER – JSS 04 × 1

Annual Basic Salary: K73,710.48

Station: Mazabuka Subordinate Court, Mazabuka District

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Undertake timely the receipt, distribution and dispatch of correspondence in order to facilitate access to information.
  • Undertake effectively the inventory of files in order to facilitate accountability.
  • Undertake effectively filing in order to ensure files are in correct order.
  • Undertake effectively the conducting of a search list in order to update records.

Full Grade 12 Certificate with 5 O Levels credit or better including English

3. ASSISTANT COURT CLERK – JSS 03 × 4

Annual Basic Salary: K71,443.58

Stations: Mazabuka Local Court, Chilyabufu Local Court in Itezhi-Tezhi District, Muwezwa Local Court in Itezhi-Tezhi District and Singani Local Court in Choma District

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Undertake effectively the recording of Court proceedings in order to facilitate the maintenance of an accurate record.
  • Undertake periodically production and compilation of Court returns in order to facilitate decision making.
  • Undertake timely preparation of the cause list in order to provide information on matters coming up in Court.
  • Undertake the storage and presentation of exhibits in order to facilitate adjudication.
  • Undertake timely preparation of documentation for appeals to appellate Court in order to facilitate the administration of justice.
  • Undertake effectively the conducting of interviews with potential litigants in order to establish the nature of their cases.
  • Undertake timely banking of collected fees in order to ensure their safety.
  • Undertake timely preparation of books of accounts in order to facilitate accountability for public funds.
  • Undertake efficiently the receipting of fees paid to the court in order to facilitate accountability of funds.

4. LOCAL COURT MESSENGER – JSS 03 × 14

Annual Basic Salary: K71,443.58

Stations: Chabola Local Court; Nkumbi Local Court in Kalomo District; Mwanachingwala Local Court in Mazabuka District; Livingstone A3 Local Court in Livingstone District; Kazungula Urban Local Court in Kazungula District; Shezongo Local Court; Chilyabufu Local Court in Itezhi-Tezhi District; Nalumba Local Court; Mungaila Local Court in Namwala District; Munyumbwe Local Court in Gwembe District; Macha Local Court; Singani Local Court; and Choma Urban Local Court in Choma District

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Undertake effectively the serving of processes and execution of court Orders in order to facilitate the administration of justice.
  • Undertake effectively the prosecution of contempt matters in order to facilitate dispensation of justice.
  • Undertake effectively the provision of security to the local courts in order to facilitate orderliness during the proceedings.

Full Grade 12/Form V Certificate with five (5) credits or better including English

5. GENERAL WORKER – JSS 01 × 1

Annual Basic Salary: K68,025.88

Station: Lukambo Local Court, Kazungula District

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Undertake effectively the cleaning of the premises in order to provide a conducive working environment.
  • Undertake effectively the maintenance of gardens in order to create pleasant surroundings.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION

Full Grade 9 Certificate with English

Able to communicate effectively in English • Energetic • Sober character • Honesty • Reliability • Initiative

6. WATCHMAN – JSS 01 × 2

Annual Basic Salary: K68,025.88

Stations: Livingstone A1 Local Court in Livingstone District and Namwala Local Court in Namwala District

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Undertake duties, including patrolling at the court premises and properties in order to ensure a secured environment.
  • Undertake regularly the apprehension of offenders in order to maintain law and order.
  • Undertake regularly the updating of the occurrence book in order to ensure that correct entries are made.
  • Undertake timely the preparation of incident reports in order to facilitate decision making.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION

Grade nine (9) Certificate and English
